Upcoming Training Opportunities on Child Sexual Abuse

Hampshire Safeguarding Children Partnership (HSCP) are pleased to announce that places are available for this month’s training, which focuses on the theme, child sexual abuse. Places are free and offered on a first-come, first-served basis, so be sure to secure your free place quickly.

An Introduction to Child Sexual Abuse – 11 September 2024 13.30 – 15.00 This course will provide an introduction to sexual abuse for professionals and volunteers working with Hampshire’s children. Delivered by professionals within health, children’s social care and the police, this training provides information from a multi-agency perspective to increase professional confidence to recognise and respond to sexual abuse. Child Sexual Abuse Strategy (One Year On) – A Hampshire Approach This session is aimed at all professionals working with children and their families in Hampshire. The presentation delivered by HSCP will include local and national learning, resources and practical tools and an understanding of how these tools can support you in your practice when responding to concerns of suspected child sexual abuse.

Spotting the Signs and Indicators of Child Sexual Abuse This one-hour session delivered by the CSA Centre will introduce professionals to the Signs and Indicators Template and how it can be used in practice. It aims to give professionals working with children the knowledge and confidence to act when they are concerned about a child by systematically observing, recording and communicating their concerns about the signs which may indicate child sexual abuse.

Speaking to Children About Child Sexual Abuse This one-hour webinar aims to help give professionals the knowledge and confidence to act, using the Centre for Expertise on Child Sexual Abuse (CSA Centre) Communicating with Children Guide. This session is delivered by the CSA Centre and is designed to explain what may be going on for children when they are being sexually abused, what prevents them from talking about their abuse, and what professionals can do to help children speak about what is happening.

HIPS Child Sexual Abuse Toolkit For Professionals The HIPS Child Sexual Abuse Toolkit contains information and resources to support all professionals who work with children and young people and their families. The information and resources are intended to improve the identification, protection and support for victims, survivors and their families. It has been created to improve the ways in which children’s needs are risks are understood, recognised and responded to.
